Senior Engagement Consultant - Local Government Projects

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Engagement Consultant to join our Local Government team at WSP. This role offers the chance to work remotely or from our offices in Exeter, Bristol, or Southampton, contributing to impactful projects that shape communities across the UK. As a Senior Engagement Consultant, you will play a crucial role in driving best practices in engagement, community relations, and stakeholder management.

What You'll Do

• Lead engagement processes for multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.
• Draft stakeholder engagement strategies and conduct consultations to meet legislative requirements.
• Provide data coding and analysis, presenting findings in reports.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver engaging communications that help communities understand project impacts.
• Organize events, publish communications, and run surveys to gather feedback from stakeholders.
• Act as a trusted advisor to clients, offering communication and engagement advice tailored to their needs.
• Utilize tools like Common Place to enhance engagement efforts (desirable).
• Manage junior team members and support their development through project delivery.

Requirements

• Experience in local government, highways, rail, utilities, water, environment, or energy sectors.
• Demonstrated experience in leading engagement processes and drafting strategies.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Enthusiasm for growing your career in communication and engagement.
• Line management experience is a plus.
