About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Editor - English Remote to join our dynamic team at Cambridge University Press & Assessment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of high-quality educational content that supports learners of English worldwide. As a Senior Editor, you will play a pivotal role in managing editorial projects, ensuring timely delivery within budget, and maintaining the highest standards of quality.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the development of allocated course components or levels, managing schedules, budgets, and editorial resources.
  • Ensure that content under development is engaging, motivating, and pedagogically sound.
  • Collaborate with the Commissioning Editor and/or Product Owner to meet wider project goals and milestones.
  • Define detailed editorial scope and requirements, setting and monitoring project timelines and deliverables.
  • Coordinate the work of authors/writers and editorial staff, anticipating workflow obstacles and identifying corrective actions.
  • Adhere to project budgets, identifying and mitigating budget-related risks in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of content.

Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant field or proven comparable experience.
  • Knowledge of ELT pedagogy theory and practice, including a CELTA/TESOL qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Strong editorial project planning and management skills with experience in a wide range of ELT products and workflows.
  • Experience in briefing and managing freelancers, and supervising in-house editorial work.
  • Hands-on content and copy-editing experience of both print and digital products.
  • Ability to work to tight timescales and deliver to specification and budget.
