Senior Digital Protections Application Design Engineer - Remote
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Digital Protections Application Design Engineer to join our team at Schneider Electric. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while being part of a global leader in energy management and automation. You will be responsible for designing and commissioning protection parameters for complex technical international projects across Europe and South America. This position requires extensive international travel (up to 50%) and the ability to mobilize on short notice.
What You'll Do
- Design IED protection parameters, including logic, communication, and protection settings for international projects.
- Implement and commission protection relays, ensuring compliance with client specifications.
- Participate in factory acceptance tests (FATs) and internal validations.
- Develop complex logic functions within IEDs to meet client needs.
- Collaborate with project teams to manage schedules and customer interfaces effectively.
- Write technical reports and participate in design meetings to share best practices.
- Maintain and enhance technical skills in electrical distribution and power systems.
- Monitor and ensure the security of information processed and stored.
Requirements
- University degree in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor's minimum, Master's preferred).
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical distribution, energy automation, or commissioning.
- Fluency in English (minimum B2 level); knowledge of French, Spanish, or German is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of IEC and IEEE standards applicable within the electrical distribution field.
- Experience with communication protocols and IED configuration tools.
- Willingness to travel up to 60% of working time within the EU region.
- EU passport holder is preferred.
- Driving license B is required.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of cybersecurity and experience in constructing secure networks.
- Experience with Cybersecurity Admin Expert Cybersecurity Application Platform.
- Familiarity with sequence of operation PLC design.
