Senior Deployment Engineer - AI Systems for Life Sciences

About the Role

We are hiring a Senior Deployment Engineer to join OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team. This Senior Deployment Engineer remote position focuses on deploying production AI systems across life sciences organizations, ensuring that our cutting-edge models are effectively integrated into scientific and operational workflows.

What You'll Do

• Lead end-to-end deployments of AI models within life sciences organizations, focusing on workflows across discovery, clinical development, and scientific operations.
• Collaborate with customers and internal teams to define scope, translate ambiguous workflow needs into system requirements, and establish measurable endpoints.
• Own the deployment process from initial scoping through production adoption, making critical technical decisions and ensuring launch readiness.
• Define launch criteria for regulated contexts, including validation evidence, outcome metrics, and acceptance thresholds tied to production use.
• Design evaluations that measure model and system quality against workflow-specific scientific benchmarks and acceptance criteria.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in software, ML/AI, or deployment engineering with customer-facing ownership in biotech, pharma, or clinical research.
• Proven track record as a senior engineer, tech lead, or deployment owner, trusted to make technical decisions in ambiguous environments.
• Experience in delivering AI systems in workflows such as discovery, clinical development, or regulatory submissions.
• Exceptional communication skills to translate technical trade-offs into decisions and measurable outcomes.
• Ability to apply systems thinking and engineering judgment to improve operating standards and deployment patterns.

Nice to Have

• Experience with GenAI deployments and familiarity with validation strategies and compliance constraints.
• Background in scientific software or adjacent technical domains.
• Experience working in regulated environments.
