Senior Cloud Database Engineer - AWS & Terraform Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Database Engineer to join our dynamic team at IT Engagements, Inc. This Senior Cloud Database Engineer remote position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies like AWS and Terraform. You will play a crucial role in designing and implementing cloud database solutions that ensure high performance, durability, and security.

What You'll Do

• Containerize code and COTS tools to enhance deployment efficiency.
• Engineer cloud database solutions using AWS, ensuring optimal performance and security.
• Assist in migrating on-premises databases (Oracle and SQL) to AWS.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and GitLab.
• Diagnose and remediate database performance issues effectively.
• Write IaC code to install custom applications and COTS tools in AWS.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and responsibilities as necessary.
• Utilize containerization technologies including AWS EKS, ECS, and Kubernetes.

Requirements

• Minimum of 12 years of experience in cloud database engineering.
• Strong expertise in AWS, Terraform, and GitLab pipelines.
• Experience with cloud and SaaS databases such as AWS, Databricks, Mongo Atlas, RDS (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle).
• Practical understanding of infrastructure technologies including compute, network, and storage.
• Hands-on experience with VPC, AWS Transit VPC, Transit Gateway, and Direct Connect methodologies.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with containerization technologies.
• Experience in deploying and maintaining multi-region database deployments in AWS.
• Knowledge of best practices for database security and performance tuning.
