Senior Backend Software Development Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Backend Software Development Engineer to join our fast-growing team at Hive. As a key player in our engineering team, you'll help shape the future of our marketing solutions platform while working remotely from Canada. This role offers the opportunity to solve complex problems and enable exceptional customer experiences at scale.

What You'll Do

• Design and build robust backend services that enable Hive's marketing platform to scale.
• Own features end-to-end, from architecture and implementation through deployment and production support.
• Build and optimize high-throughput data pipelines processing billions of customer data points.
• Collaborate with product teams to design scalable APIs and integrate with external platforms like Ticketmaster and Shopify.
• Enhance application performance and reliability across the stack.
• Implement comprehensive monitoring and observability for the services you build.

Requirements

• 7+ years building backend services and APIs at scale.
• Strong experience with AWS (or similar cloud platforms).
• Demonstrated expertise in Python/Django, database design, API design, and distributed systems.
• Experience owning production services, including participating in on-call rotations and incident response.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Nice to Have

• Proven experience scaling complex AWS environments and optimizing performance across the full technology stack.
• Leadership experience in establishing and improving incident management processes.
