Senior Audio Machine Learning Engineer - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Audio Machine Learning Engineer to join our innovative team at 9 Mothers. This role offers a unique opportunity to work remotely while contributing to cutting-edge technology designed to intercept and neutralize drone threats. As a Senior Audio Machine Learning Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in machine learning to enhance our systems' capabilities in detecting, classifying, and tracking acoustic targets.
What You'll Do
- Develop hybrid models that integrate beamformed channels and multichannel features to improve detection and classification accuracy.
- Define labeling strategies and build training/evaluation pipelines, implementing hard-negative mining to adapt to diverse outdoor conditions.
- Reduce false alarms caused by environmental factors such as wind and rain across various terrains.
- Deploy machine learning models to edge runtimes, ensuring they meet strict latency requirements while integrating diagnostics for real-time operability.
- Collaborate with hardware and DSP teams to align data, calibration, and performance metrics effectively.
Requirements
- Proven experience in deploying machine learning solutions for audio or similar noisy sensors, with measurable operational metrics.
- Strong engineering rigor, including reproducible experiments and systematic error analysis.
- Practical understanding of microphone array fundamentals to debug failures and design robust tests.
- High proficiency in Python; experience with Rust is a significant advantage.
- Must be a US citizen and able to pass a background check.
Nice to Have
- Experience with on-device inference optimization techniques such as TensorRT and ONNX.
- Familiarity with weak/self-supervised learning and domain adaptation.
- Background in fusion/tracking experience, including temporal models and confidence calibration.
- A passion for building robots as a hobby.
