Senior Associate Director of Cable System Design - Remote Opportunities

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Associate Director of Cable System Design to join our dynamic team in the UK. This Senior Associate Director of Cable System Design remote position offers a unique opportunity to lead major power and energy projects across the UK and Europe. With over 16 years of experience, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of HV substations, transmission systems, HVDC interconnectors, and energy storage solutions.

What You'll Do

• Lead the design of HV/EHV cable systems from FEED to detailed design, ensuring high-quality outputs.
• Deliver HVAC and HVDC cable system designs and technical solutions that meet client specifications.
• Prepare specifications, conduct design reviews, and create comprehensive technical documentation.
• Perform essential calculations, including cable sizing, ratings, EMF/TMF, and sheath voltage.
• Provide technical guidance and support to engineering teams throughout project phases.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.
• Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), site activities, and overall project delivery.
• Ensure compliance with CDM, safety, and quality standards while maintaining strong client and supply chain relationships.

Requirements

• A degree in Electrical Engineering is essential.
• Chartered Engineer (IET) status or working towards CDAE and TP141 is preferred.
• Strong experience in HV/EHV cable design (132kV–400kV) is required.
• Proficiency in CYMCAP and COMSOL software tools.
• Knowledge of UK transmission and DNO standards is a significant advantage.
• Experience in leading technical workstreams and managing multiple priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential.
• Ability to deliver under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Nice to Have

• Experience with energy storage systems and HVDC technology.
• Familiarity with international cable design standards.
• Previous experience in project management roles.
