About the Role

We are hiring a Sales Assistant to join our dynamic team at Smyths Toys, one of the world's largest specialty retailers of children's toys. This Sales Assistant role offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fun and fast-paced environment, contributing to our mission of providing exceptional customer service. As a Sales Assistant, you will be the face of our brand, helping customers find the perfect toys for their children. This is a temporary contract position with a competitive pay rate of £13.20 per hour for those over 21 and £11.30 for those under 21.

What You'll Do

• Provide a high level of customer service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Ascertain customers’ needs and wants to assist them effectively.
• Work collaboratively as part of a fast-paced and dynamic team.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the store.
• Pack shelves and merchandise products to ensure availability.
• Handle deliveries and complete price changes as needed.
• Operate the tills efficiently during busy periods.
• Stay informed about our product range to assist customers with inquiries.

Requirements

• Retail experience is highly desirable, particularly in areas such as Outdoor/Bikes, Nursery, Software & Gaming, or Backdoor/Warehouse.
• Flexibility to work across different shifts as our stores are open 7 days a week.
• Strong communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
• Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
• Willingness to learn about our products and services.

Nice to Have

• Previous experience in a retail environment.
• Knowledge of children's toys and games.
• Customer service training or certifications.
