Remote Senior Facial Character TD - Cutting-Edge Animation

About the Role

Insomniac Games is seeking a talented Remote Senior Facial Character TD to join our innovative team. In this role, you will be responsible for creating high-quality facial rigs from scratch, utilizing high-resolution scan data, and contributing to our ongoing facial research and development efforts.

What You'll Do

• Author high-quality photorealistic facial rigs based on FACS using blendshapes.
• Develop rigging systems that augment or support blendshape-based facial rigs.
• Collaborate with Character Art, Animation, and Engineering teams to deliver top-tier assets with animator/mocap-friendly interfaces.
• Contribute to tools for authoring and editing facial rigs using Python, PyQt, or PySide.
• Implement automated tools and workflows for runtime optimization.
• Assist in facial animation systems such as facial solvers and R&D using Python, C++, and Machine Learning.
• Sculpt FACS from scratch using deformers and sculpting tools.
• Process and clean 3D or 4D scan data from FACS sessions.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of FACS and facial anatomy.
• Experience in facial rigging for photorealistic characters in film and games.
• Ability to implement shape transfer pipelines.
• Familiarity with state-of-the-art approaches to facial rigging.
• Experience directing actors through FACS during facial acquisitions is a plus.
