About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Lead Power Systems Engineer to join Energy Vault, a pioneering company in energy storage and power infrastructure. As a Lead Power Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for designing power architecture for data centers, ensuring reliability, safety, and efficiency in energy delivery. This role is critical in supporting modern energy grids and large energy users.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the design of power systems for data centers, focusing on high-reliability substations and distribution systems.
  • Define and own the overall power system architecture from the utility point of interconnection to IT load.
  • Conduct failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), short-circuit studies, and reliability assessments.
  • Design systems for maintainability without downtime, including concurrent maintenance strategies.
  • Support black-start and islanded operation scenarios where applicable.
  • Coordinate integration of distributed energy resources (DERs) with UPS systems and data hall distribution.
  • Engage with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, and interconnection authorities for technical discussions.
  • Provide oversight during design reviews, commissioning, and energization phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering; Master’s preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in power system design for mission-critical environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with battery energy storage systems (BESS) or photovoltaic (PV) projects.
  • Strong expertise in high-reliability substations and MV/LV distribution systems.
  • Proficiency with power system analysis tools (e.g., load flow, short-circuit analysis).
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 25%.
  • A passion for sustainability and innovation in energy solutions.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with grid-interactive or grid-forming power systems.
  • Familiarity with sustainability-driven power strategies.
  • Knowledge of permitting processes with local authorities.

What We Offer

  • Annual bonus plan and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
  • 401K employer matching and comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans.
  • Flexible Spending Account and company-paid life insurance.
  • Generous holiday allowance and flexible time off plus sick leave.
  • Reimbursement for home office equipment, phone, and internet expenses.
