Remote Head of Studio Standards and Business

About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Head of Studio Standards and Business to join Samsung Research America. This role can be based in Irvine or fully remote. As the Head of Standards and Business, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of video and audio systems, leading our efforts in standardization and industry collaboration.

What You'll Do

• Lead HDR10+ standardization efforts in various standardization bodies including CTA, WAVE, SCTE, and SMPTE.
• Participate in ATSC 3.0/NEXTGEN TV standards maintenance and evolution, contributing to the development of Regional Operating Profiles.
• Engage in the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) for ATSC 3.0 TV Recommended Practices and HDMI/CTA-861 standards.
• Oversee the standardization of IAMF Audio over HDMI and participate in relevant standards development.
• Manage technical interactions with companies involved in standardization and commercial perspectives.
• Lead the promotion and deployment of Samsung technology in TV broadcast, including HDR10+ and MMT.
• Coordinate with broadcasters and CE companies to ensure successful testing and maintenance of standards.
• Assist in promotional activities at major industry events such as CES and NABShow.

Requirements

• MS/Ph.D. or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• 20+ years of experience in CE/Media/Entertainment, with a background at the Director/Sr. Dr. level or above.
• Extensive experience with ATSC, CTA, and other relevant groups in the broadcast industry.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior team members.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills for engaging with standardization bodies and commercial partners.
