About the Role

We are seeking a Remote Director of Cloud Engineering to lead and scale high-performing cloud engineering and Site Reliability teams. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive operational excellence, reliability, and innovation across enterprise cloud platforms.

What You'll Do

  • Lead, mentor, and manage multiple DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering teams to ensure operational excellence and technical growth.
  • Define, monitor, and report on KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs to measure system performance, reliability, and operational maturity.
  • Architect, implement, and optimize cloud solutions across Azure, AWS, GCP, and hybrid environments to support enterprise-grade applications.
  • Drive CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment processes, and cloud modernization initiatives including containerization (Kubernetes) and platform consolidation.
  • Implement observability, monitoring, and incident response frameworks to ensure proactive management and resolution of technical issues.
  • Integrate security best practices throughout the SDLC in alignment with SOC2, FedRAMP, and GDPR standards.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and security leadership to align cloud strategy with organizational goals and innovation initiatives.
  • Lead budgeting, resource planning, and strategic initiatives for cloud engineering operations.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of software engineering, SRE, or DevOps experience.
  • 4+ years of experience building and managing high-performing engineering teams in cloud or SaaS environments.
  • Expertise in cloud-native architectures, distributed systems, and hybrid/multi-cloud deployments.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure, AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, CI/CD tools (Terraform, ArgoCD, Azure DevOps Pipelines, Git), and container orchestration.
  • Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python, CLI) and knowledge of Windows and Linux environments.
  • Proven track record of strategic thinking, operational excellence, and team leadership.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with a servant-leadership approach.
