About the Role

We are seeking an R&D Engineer to join our dynamic team at Los Alamos National Laboratory. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to national security through advanced engineering solutions. As an R&D Engineer, you will engage in the design and development of innovative processes and quality improvement programs, directly impacting the manufacturing of critical components for nuclear deterrence. What You'll Do

  • Lead engineering projects focused on process improvement and quality assurance in a collaborative team setting.
  • Conduct time studies and develop work standards to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Participate in new product development teams, providing technical expertise and leadership.
  • Apply specialized engineering principles to solve complex problems related to nuclear security.
  • Develop and implement innovative concepts and methods to improve engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution with at least 4 years of related experience for R&D Engineer 2, or a Master's Degree with 6 years for R&D Engineer 3.
  • Experience in leading problem-solving initiatives using methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma.
  • Strong analytical skills to perform cost-benefit and risk analyses.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering disciplines related to process improvement and quality control.

Nice to Have

  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green or Black Belt).
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as MicroStrategy.
  • Familiarity with nuclear operations and safety regulations.
