Psychologist - Remote Position for Torture Survivors Project

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Psychologist to join our team remotely, focusing on the Project for Survivors of Torture in Palermo. This role is crucial in providing specialized mental health care to migrant and refugee survivors of torture and other forms of intentional violence. As a Psychologist, you will implement therapeutic plans and participate in multidisciplinary care, ensuring that survivors receive the support they need.

What You'll Do

  • Implement planned activities for identifying and supporting survivors of torture according to project medical strategies.
  • Conduct first assessments to identify mental health needs and risks, and develop individualized therapeutic plans.
  • Provide specialized mental health care, including individual psychotherapy and group therapy in community settings.
  • Maintain regular communication and collaboration with team members to achieve therapeutic objectives.
  • Enhance the patient’s active role in their rehabilitation process through a survivor-centered approach.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervisions, and multidisciplinary case discussions.
  • Compile project reports and maintain patient databases, ensuring accurate documentation of treatment plans and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of technical materials and guidelines for mental health protocols.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Psychology and Psychotherapy.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a clinical psychologist, preferably in a migration setting.
  • Registration with the Italian National Register of Psychologists is essential.
  • Availability to obtain professional insurance for gross negligence.
  • Fluent in Italian (C1) and proficient in English (B2).
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
  • Competencies in results orientation, teamwork, flexibility, commitment to MSF principles, and stress management.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.
  • Experience in training or coaching local staff on migration health issues.

What We Offer

  • Fixed-term contract of 9 months, full-time, with the possibility of renewal.
  • Gross annual salary between €31,351.82 and €37,622.00, depending on experience.
