Principal/​Sr. Principal Software Integration Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Software Integration Engineer to join our innovative team at Northrop Grumman. As a key member of our team, you will leverage your expertise in software integration to develop cutting-edge solutions in the aerospace and defense sectors.

What You'll Do

• Write clean, testable code in Python, ensuring high standards of software quality.
• Design and implement drivers/APIs that expose hardware functionality to Python.
• Utilize communication protocols such as Modbus and MQTT to bridge software services and devices.
• Manage bootloaders, firmware upgrades, and configuration flashing.
• Conduct unit/component testing using tools like pytest and unittest.
• Containerize test environments using Docker for simulation and host-side tools.
• Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum environment, working cross-functionally with teams.
• Document hardware interface specifications, test procedures, and release notes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience, or equivalent experience.
• Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with C++ for developing complex software solutions.
• Familiarity with embedded/hardware interfaces and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
• Strong analytical debugging skills and clear communication abilities.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and cross-functional Scrum teams.
• Knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design principles.
• Ability to interpret complex algorithms and requirements for implementation.

Nice to Have

• Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira and Confluence.
• Proficient with DOORS and Cameo for writing and decomposing system requirements.
• Ability to evaluate risks and tradeoffs and present solutions to management.
