About the Role
We are seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Software Integration Engineer to join our innovative team at Northrop Grumman. This remote position offers the opportunity to work on revolutionary systems that impact lives globally. As a key member of our team, you will leverage your expertise in software integration to develop cutting-edge solutions in the aerospace and defense sectors.
What You'll Do
- Write clean, testable code in Python, ensuring high standards of software quality.
- Design and implement drivers/APIs that expose hardware functionality to Python.
- Utilize communication protocols such as Modbus and MQTT to bridge software services and devices.
- Manage bootloaders, firmware upgrades, and configuration flashing.
- Conduct unit/component testing using tools like pytest and unittest.
- Containerize test environments using Docker for simulation and host-side tools.
- Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum environment, working cross-functionally with teams.
- Document hardware interface specifications, test procedures, and release notes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with at least 5 years of experience, or equivalent experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance is required.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with C++ for developing complex software solutions.
- Familiarity with embedded/hardware interfaces and real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Strong analytical debugging skills and clear communication abilities.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and cross-functional Scrum teams.
- Knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design principles.
- Ability to interpret complex algorithms and requirements for implementation.
Nice to Have
- Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira and Confluence.
- Proficient with DOORS and Cameo for writing and decomposing system requirements.
- Ability to evaluate risks and tradeoffs and present solutions to management.
