Principal Software Integration Engineer - Remote Opportunities

About the Role

We are seeking a Principal Software Integration Engineer to join our innovative team at Northrop Grumman. As a Principal Software Integration Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in software integration to develop and implement solutions that enhance our capabilities in air and space technologies.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement software-hardware integration solutions, ensuring seamless communication between software services and hardware devices.
• Utilize your proficiency in Python to write clean, testable code and manage embedded/hardware interfaces.
• Conduct unit/component testing using frameworks such as pytest and unittest to ensure software reliability.
• Manage CI/CD processes for embedded systems using tools like Jenkins and GitHub Actions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Document hardware interface specifications, test procedures, and release notes to maintain clarity and transparency.
• Participate in system-level testing and automated measurement processes to validate software performance.
• Provide clear communication with electrical engineers, firmware developers, and QA testers to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software integration with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 3 years with a Master’s; or 1 year with a PhD; or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
• Active DoD Secret clearance and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
• Strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design principles.
• Experience developing complex software solutions using C++ and scripting languages such as Python and Bash.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working in cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in version control systems, particularly Git.
• Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS) or bare-metal development.
• Ability to evaluate risks and tradeoffs and present solution options to management.

Nice to Have

• Experience with modern web technologies and containerized applications.
• Familiarity with the Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira and Confluence.
• Knowledge of NIST and ISO standards.
• Experience deploying applications in a Kubernetes framework.
• Certifications such as IASAE III (e.g., CCSP, CISSP-ISSEP) or IAT II (e.g., Security+, CISSP).
