Mid-Senior Propulsion Performance Engineer - Defense Technology
About the Role
Anduril Industries is seeking a talented Mid-Senior Propulsion Performance Engineer to join our innovative team. This Propulsion Performance Engineer remote position is critical in developing and optimizing advanced propulsion systems to meet our ambitious goals. You will play a key role in simulation and development of air-breathing propulsion systems while supporting flight testing as needed.
What You’ll Do
- Own the performance modeling and acceptance criteria of gas turbine engines.
- Create and maintain engine performance decks for internal and external customers.
- Mentor less experienced engineers on the development of gas turbine engines.
- Assist in research and development regarding the design of aircraft engines, engine components, advanced combustion, and fuel injection systems.
- Review test data for performance compliance and model fidelity.
- Lead projects to improve performance of gas turbine engines.
- Support test campaigns with up to 20% travel.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in modeling/simulation of gas turbine engine performance.
- Proven expertise in code development for 0D simulation of Gas Turbine Engines using NPSS (Preferred), EES, GT Power, GateCycle, or other proprietary equivalent.
- Knowledge of instrumentation strategies and setups to diagnose performance of gas turbine engines.
- Exposure to testing of gas turbine engines.
- Proven expertise in the aerodynamics and thermodynamics of turbomachinery.
- Must be eligible to obtain/maintain US Security Clearance.
Nice to Have
- Experience with air-breathing propulsion systems.
- Experience in Engine Operability (Stability Audits, Distortion Sensitivity, Lean Blowout Margin).
- Experience in turbine engine starting analysis.
- Experience authoring turbine engine requirements in early program phases.
- Professional experience using Siemens NX (Unigraphics) or other CAD packages.
- Experience conducting 1D sizing of turbomachinery components.
- Experience with Numerical analysis Toolsets for turbomachinery (AxStream, Concepts NREC).
- Experience with aerodynamic rig testing techniques for turbomachinery components.
- Experience using CFD to simulate the performance of gas turbine components (Ducts, Inlets, Nozzles, Turbomachinery).
- Experience with Internal Combustion Engines.
