Mid-Level Electrical and Instrumentation Designer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Mid-Level Electrical and Instrumentation Designer to join our innovative team at Kiewit. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse industrial projects across North America, particularly in our Calgary, Alberta office. As an Electrical and Instrumentation Designer, you will leverage your experience in REVIT and 3D modeling to contribute to the design of complex electrical systems and equipment.

What You'll Do

• Utilize national and local engineering codes for projects in the US and Canada.
• Develop schematics and one-line drawings from engineering sketches or mark-ups.
• Design duct banks, embedded conduits, cable trays, grounding, and lighting systems from concept to completion.
• Create and navigate 3D models using REVIT and Smartplant 3D, ensuring constructability and interference checks.
• Route electrical cables in a 3D environment to generate comprehensive cable schedules.
• Perform calculations to ensure compliance with NEC requirements for conduits and cable tray systems.
• Gather necessary information to develop designs and verify voltage separation requirements.
• Participate in project meetings and provide lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Associate's, Vocational, or Bachelor's degree in Design/Drafting technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience, particularly in industrial settings.
• Proficiency in 3D modeling software, specifically REVIT or Smartplant 3D.
• Strong understanding of NEC codes as they pertain to industrial facilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with industrial projects such as water/wastewater treatment, data centers, and industrial power systems.
• Familiarity with electrical quality standards and department procedures.
• Ability to represent Kiewit professionally to clients and stakeholders.
