We are seeking a talented Cloud Operations Engineer to join our dynamic team at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL). What You'll Do

• Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure primarily using AWS to support scientific, engineering, and business applications.
• Develop automation scripts and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) solutions for efficient cloud resource provisioning and management.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to migrate workloads and optimize applications for cloud environments.
• Implement and manage cloud financial operations (FinOps) practices to optimize spending and ensure cost-effective resource allocation.
• Monitor cloud performance and usage, implementing solutions for high availability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with Department of Energy (DOE) and NNSA security policies and federal regulations.
• Provide technical support, documentation, and training for cloud users across the enterprise.
• Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies and recommend innovative solutions.

Requirements

• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance, requiring U.S. citizenship.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Broad experience in cloud platform administration, particularly with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Proficiency in cloud infrastructure operations, including resource provisioning and automation tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Strong understanding of cloud support systems, including virtual networking and identity management.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to Have

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect or equivalent advanced cloud certification.
• Experience with hybrid cloud architectures and compliance frameworks like NIST and FedRAMP.
• Significant experience managing enterprise cloud environments and troubleshooting complex issues.
