Mechanical Design Engineer - Solar Tracker Technology
About the Role
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer remote to join our innovative team at Nevados. As a leader in solar tracker technology, you will play a crucial role in developing cutting-edge solutions that optimize solar performance and enhance plant reliability. This hybrid position allows you to work remotely while also collaborating with our team in Oakland, California.
What You'll Do
- Lead mechanical design work from concept to production for solar tracker components.
- Utilize SolidWorks to create 3D models, 2D drawings, and release-ready documentation.
- Perform structural FEA and design parts using DFM/DFA practices for various manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and develop concepts.
- Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
- Support investigations of production and field issues, performing root-cause analysis.
- Create and maintain installation instructions and training materials for field deployment.
- Manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for modeling and FEA.
- Strong DFM experience for sheet metal components and familiarity with injection molding.
- Hands-on prototyping experience and comfort using fundamental hand tools.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with PLM systems, preferably Arena.
- Background in solar, renewables, or outdoor electromechanical products.
- Experience in a startup or high-growth environment.

Who Will Succeed Here
Proficient in SolidWorks with a strong portfolio of mechanical designs that demonstrate experience in DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles and FEA (Finite Element Analysis) applications, specifically in renewable energy technologies.
