Mechanical Design Engineer - Naval Ordnance Systems
About the Role
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for Naval Ordnance Systems to join our innovative team at Anduril Industries. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely while contributing to the design and development of advanced military systems. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in transforming military capabilities through cutting-edge technology.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop warheads and complex ordnance/munitions systems, transitioning them from prototype to production.
- Create high-fidelity prototype parts to assess effectiveness through rigorous testing.
- Manage end-to-end testing of munitions products, including project planning and design of experiments.
- Capture test video, compile data from various tests, and analyze results to ensure quality and performance.
- Assemble and disassemble explosive test articles and precision targets as part of the testing process.
Requirements
- BS or higher degree in mechanical, aerospace, or related engineering discipline.
- 2-10 years of experience in mechanical design, analysis, and testing of naval ordnance/munitions systems.
- Proficiency in CAD tools such as NX or SolidWorks for creating complex mechanical designs.
- Experience in data acquisition, analysis, and project coordination for testing.
- Ability to travel as required for testing, with surges up to 25%.
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
Nice to Have
- Active U.S. security clearance (DoD Secret or Top-Secret).
- Expertise in designing complex mechanical systems specific to ordnance/munitions.
- Prior experience in explosive operations and/or handling munitions.
- Experience with the DoD Weapons Safety Boards.
- Familiarity with subsea design and testing environments.
