About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative team at Corning. This Mechanical Design Engineer remote position offers you the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking optical solutions that push the boundaries of technology. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to design prototypes and automated production lines that meet technical and functional requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Design prototypes of machines and devices according to technical specifications.
  • Develop mechanical design concepts for new products and R&D projects.
  • Collaborate with R&D, automation, production, and quality teams during the design, prototyping, testing, and implementation phases.
  • Select materials, components, and mechanical parts considering technical, cost, and production requirements.
  • Work with external suppliers on technical specifications, offers, and procurement of components.
  • Create and manage technical documentation (3D models, 2D drawings, bill of materials) in CAD environments (SolidWorks, Creo).
  • Manage project documentation using Autodesk Vault Professional.
  • Participate in prototype testing and implement design changes based on research and production trials.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve design issues affecting quality, cost, timeliness, or safety.
  • Prepare technical reports and present project results to the project team and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (preferably mechanical engineering or a related discipline).
  • Over 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with Creo, SolidWorks, and Autodesk Vault Professional.
  • Experience in automating production processes.
  • Proven track record in designing, building, developing, and testing prototype devices.
  • Excellent knowledge of technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic systems (including CAD software).
  • Fluent in English and Polish (both spoken and written).

Nice to Have

  • Experience in the telecommunications or optical technology industry.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards in the engineering field.
