PMO Lead - Electric Aviation
About the Role
We are seeking a PMO Lead to join our team at Vertical Aerospace, a pioneering company in electric aviation. As a PMO Lead remote position, you will play a critical role in shaping and leading the Programme Management Office for our innovative eVTOL aircraft, the Valo. This role is essential for ensuring the successful delivery of complex aircraft development programs in a highly regulated environment.
What You'll Do
- Lead and grow the PMO function, building a high-performing team that supports program delivery across the business.
- Define, implement, and continuously improve program management processes, tools, and controls across all company projects.
- Own the stage gate framework and governance review structure, ensuring clear decision-making and executive visibility.
- Develop and maintain the highest level integrated program plan, ensuring alignment across engineering, certification, and operational workstreams.
- Establish and track program health metrics and KPIs, providing clear, data-driven reporting to senior leadership.
- Lead program planning, schedule integration, and baseline management to ensure realistic, aligned delivery plans.
- Oversee change management processes, including impact assessment and control of program baselines.
- Drive robust risk and opportunity management across the program, enabling proactive mitigation and informed decision-making.
- Ensure program data integrity, reporting accuracy, and regulatory compliance alignment.
- Deliver PM training and capability development to strengthen program management standards across the organization.
Requirements
- Proven experience leading a PMO within complex, large-scale development programs.
- A strong track record of delivering civil aircraft certification programs through to major regulatory milestones.
- Deep expertise in integrated program planning, governance frameworks, schedule control, and baseline management.
- Experience building and scaling PMO capability within a growing organization.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders and providing clear, data-driven program insight to executive leadership.
- Strong leadership skills with experience developing and managing high-performing teams.
- Proven aerospace experience within complex, safety-critical development programs, with practical understanding of systems integration and delivery within a regulated environment.
- PMP qualification or equivalent program or project management certification.
Nice to Have
- Experience in electric aviation or advanced air mobility.
- Familiarity with agile project management methodologies.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for aircraft certification.
