About the Role

We are seeking a Manager of Software Engineering - Backend (Repayments International) to join our dynamic team at Affirm. This remote position is an exciting opportunity to lead our international repayments team, focusing on creating user-friendly and transparent repayment experiences for our customers. As a leader in this role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of our repayment systems, driving innovation and efficiency.

What You'll Do

• Lead, mentor, and grow an engineering team responsible for the repayment processes in our international expansion journey.
• Enhance team performance by mentoring engineers on design, code quality, and testing.
• Ensure the availability, reliability, and performance of your team’s systems.
• Collaborate with product managers to design and build best-in-class systems for collections.
• Engage with diverse engineering teams to develop solutions for the entire lifecycle of loan repayments.
• Build strong relationships with senior management to align on strategic goals.

Requirements

• 7+ years of proven experience in software engineering roles with leadership responsibilities.
• 1+ years of experience as an engineering manager.
• Strong drive to improve consumer financial services.
• Experience in growing and managing high-performing engineering teams.
• Fluency in backend development technologies.
• Experience in architecting, building, launching, and maintaining consumer-scale products.
• Excellent cross-team communication and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of the loans lifecycle and delinquency assessment is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Experience with international product launches.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
• Understanding of financial regulations in different regions.
