About the Role
The New Jersey Institute for Social Justice is excited to announce an opening for a Litigation Intern - Remote. This position is ideal for law students looking to gain hands-on experience in legal research and writing while supporting vital racial justice advocacy efforts. As a Litigation Intern, you will work under the supervision of Litigation Counsel, contributing to impactful projects that make a difference.
What You'll Do
- Conduct thorough legal research on federal and New Jersey law.
- Draft legal memoranda and research summaries that support ongoing litigation efforts.
- Assist with the preparation of amicus briefs and other litigation-related filings.
- Research issues connected to racial justice and civil rights.
- Track legal developments relevant to the Institute's work and mission.
- Participate in litigation planning discussions to strategize on upcoming cases.
- Support collaboration with external partners involved in social justice initiatives.
- Engage in a hybrid work schedule, balancing remote work with in-office days.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in law school.
- Strong legal research and writing skills are essential.
- Demonstrated interest in impact litigation and public-interest legal work.
- Ability to commit to approximately 35 hours per week.
- Passion for racial and social justice advocacy.
