Data Analyst - Transportation & Logistics
About the Role
We are seeking a Data Analyst - Transportation & Logistics to join our team at Caterpillar. This remote Data Analyst position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of data, operations, and decision-making, supporting European ground transportation for Caterpillar’s factories and supply base. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our logistics operations.
What You'll Do
- Build, own, and continuously improve Power BI dashboards used by Transportation, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
- Translate business problems into clear requirements, measures, and data model design.
- Work with (and sometimes extend) data models and datasets; partner closely with data engineers on pipelines and source logic.
- Use SQL and Python to validate data, implement transformations, and create reliable, repeatable outputs.
- Identify cost opportunities, service issues, and data quality gaps in transportation flows and turn them into actionable recommendations.
- Automate recurring work with the Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps).
- Improve the way we work by simplifying, standardizing, and removing waste.
- Share best practices and help raise the analytics maturity of the team.
Requirements
- Must-have Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a quantitative or technical field.
- 3–5 years of experience in analytics, BI, or data roles.
- Strong hands-on experience with Power BI (Desktop & Service).
- Strong skills in SQL and solid working knowledge of Python.
- Experience with data modelling, transformations, and structured datasets.
- Clear communication in English and ability to work directly with business stakeholders.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to transportation, supply chain, finance, or purchasing.
- Experience with Snowflake, Oracle, Alteryx, Dataiku, or similar data platforms.
- Familiarity with process improvement concepts (Lean, Six Sigma, Operational Excellence).
- Interest or experience in AI and Copilot-style tools (prompting, automation, decision support).
