About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Quality Software Engineer to join our team in a remote capacity. As a Lead Quality Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining, implementing, and continuously improving software quality practices across Transamerica’s technology ecosystem. This position emphasizes test automation, CI/CD integration, AI-enabled quality engineering, and enterprise-scale testing for cloud-native, distributed systems.

What You'll Do

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-grade testing frameworks with an automation-first, shift-left focus.
  • Define and document best practices for automated testing, API testing, performance, security, and test data management.
  • Perform hands-on quality engineering, including test strategy development, automated test creation, exploratory testing, and defect analysis.
  • Validate distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
  • Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions to ensure testability and maintainability.
  • Lead the design and evolution of test automation frameworks integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Embed automated quality gates into build and deployment workflows.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and platform teams to ensure reliable, scalable test execution in cloud and containerized environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of experience with modern distributed applications, microservices, and database systems.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience in software quality engineering with a strong emphasis on automation.
  • Strong proficiency in .NET/C# and/or Java/Spring Framework.
  • Advanced understanding of object-oriented and functional programming, service-oriented and microservices architecture.

Nice to Have

  • Master’s degree in a technical field.
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry.
  • Cloud certifications such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.
