About the Role

We are seeking a Lead Data Scientist - Innovation to join our team at Great West Casualty. This remote Lead Data Scientist position offers an exciting opportunity to influence strategy and drive innovation in the commercial trucking insurance sector. You will collaborate with senior executives and have a significant impact on our business direction.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development of data-driven strategies that enhance our competitive advantage in the trucking insurance market.
• Collaborate with senior executives to envision future business directions and identify significant market opportunities.
• Design and execute studies that drive strategic business innovation and address complex business questions.
• Translate complex data and analytical results into clear, actionable insights for executive and business audiences.
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, educating staff on emerging technologies and translating technical results into actionable insights.
• Mentor other data scientists and help mature the practice of data science within the company.
• Imagine, invent, prototype, and socialize innovative applications of AI/GenAI that create new products and enhance customer service.

Requirements

• PhD with 5+ years of experience in data science or management consulting; or an MBA/Master's degree with 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience leading disruptive product and market studies that resulted in positive ROI.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong methodological rigor.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, capable of working effectively across all organizational levels.
• Proficiency in data science methods, particularly in managing financial risk.
• Experience with data transformation, visualization, and statistical tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python, Tableau).

Nice to Have

• Experience in the insurance industry.
• Strong writing and presentation skills.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Qlik and Snowflake.
