Internal Audit Intern - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

Stepan Company is seeking a motivated Internal Audit Intern to join our team remotely. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in internal auditing while contributing to our Northbrook, IL operations. As an Internal Audit Intern, you'll assist with day-to-day operations and projects, providing valuable insights into our internal controls and audit processes.

What You'll Do

• Assist with the evaluation of the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, as mandated by Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) Section 404.
• Gather relevant information for planning and executing risk-based projects.
• Develop and prepare internal audit templates and workpapers.
• Provide administrative support to the Internal Audit team.
• Communicate effectively with employees at all levels to support the Internal Audit team.

Requirements

• Current student pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Accounting with an interest in audit (rising juniors and seniors preferred).
• Strong academic track record with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to meet project deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid team environment.
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills.
• Prior professional experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with data analytics is strongly desired.

Nice to Have

• Foreign language proficiency (Spanish, German, French, Mandarin) is a plus.
