Head of Environmental Impact Assessment - Remote Opportunity
About the Role
We are seeking a Head of Environmental Impact Assessment to lead our EIA strategy at Heathrow Airport. This remote opportunity allows you to make a significant impact on one of the UK’s most important infrastructure projects. You will act as the subject matter expert, providing strategic EIA advice across the business and leading EIA activities within the consenting team.
What You'll Do
- Lead the development and delivery of EIA strategy supporting Heathrow’s capital investment and long-term growth.
- Provide strategic EIA advice across the business and lead EIA activities within the consenting team.
- Represent Heathrow with regulators and government bodies, influencing EIA best practices.
- Maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including local planning authorities and statutory environmental bodies.
- Ensure robust processes are in place to monitor and respond to EIA policy and legislative reforms.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of DCO applications and other consenting applications.
- Deliver EIA submissions to facilitate the delivery of Heathrow’s capital investment plan.
- Lead EIA advice for DCO and other consenting activities related to Heathrow’s long-term growth plans.
Requirements
- Chartered Environmental Status and full membership of IEMA.
- Significant experience in EIA practice within the UK consenting environment, particularly DCO and TCPA.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to lead and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of EIA and consenting processes.
- Degree educated in relevant environmental subject areas (e.g., EIA, Environmental Management).
- Ability to monitor and respond to EIA policy and legislative reform.
- Experience in pre-application processes and DCO application submissions.
Nice to Have
- Experience in large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of sustainability practices in aviation.
- Familiarity with community engagement strategies.
