Fullstack Software Engineer - Transport Planning Optimization

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Fullstack Software Engineer to join our Transport Planning Optimization team at Zalando. This remote Fullstack Software Engineer position will allow you to design and implement crucial systems that enhance the efficient delivery of millions of items to our customers. You will be part of a dedicated team based in Berlin, focused on building and continuously improving a robust Transport Management System.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, deploy, operate, and improve performant, fullstack software solutions using Kotlin for the backend and TypeScript with React for the frontend.
• Directly impact the efficiency and cost of the transport planning optimization processes at Zalando Logistics.
• Plan sprints and roadmaps by breaking down new and existing feature requests into manageable stories and tasks.
• Implement and fully test new features before deploying them to production using a continuous delivery model.
• Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to align on timelines and priorities of new features.
• Continuously improve the code base and your skillset as a software engineer.

Requirements

• 4-5 years of professional experience as a software engineer in JVM-based languages, with proven proficiency in Kotlin.
• Strong understanding of SQL and high-performance database architectures.
• Proven experience with modern frontend development using TypeScript and React.
• Experience in integrating APIs and designing them as part of a microservice landscape deployed on cloud platforms.
• Strong sense of reliability, responsibility, and ownership.
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to share knowledge.
• Experience in all parts of the software development life-cycle.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud architectures.
• Familiarity with continuous delivery practices.
• Knowledge of transport management systems.
