Fixed Telecommunications Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Fixed Telecommunications Engineer remote to join UGL’s Engineering team, which designs, constructs, commissions, and maintains critical infrastructure across various sectors including telecommunications. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant projects while working in a flexible environment.

What You'll Do

  • Achieve engineering targets and objectives as defined in the project program.
  • Produce Project Documentation including Design Reports, Drawings, Programs, and Quality Plans.
  • Monitor and control design costs within budget and liaise with management regarding design changes.
  • Ensure coordination among all design team members for seamless project execution.
  • Conduct necessary reviews, verifications, and validations, incorporating outcomes into the design.
  • Mentor graduate engineers and design engineers as required.
  • Adhere to company policies and applicable laws, regulations, and standards.
  • Undertake ad-hoc projects and tasks as directed by the Line Manager.

Requirements

  • Experience with design of fixed communication networks, structured cabling, and fibre optic cabling.
  • Proficiency in data rack and comms cabinet design, cabling design, and creating single line diagrams.
  • Understanding of Queensland Rail and Australian Telecommunications Standards.
  • Practical experience with Layer 2 & 3 Cisco configuration and fault-finding.
  • Cisco CCNA/CCNP Certification preferred (minimum Cisco ICND 1/2).
  • 4-year degree qualification in engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in the industry, preferably in infrastructure or rail.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

  • RPEQ preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience in mentoring or leading junior engineers.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies.
