About the Role
We are seeking an Engineering Manager for Verifications to join our dynamic team at Checkr. What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop the Verifications engineering team, setting clear technical direction and fostering a culture of performance and growth.
- Own the reliability and quality of our diverse portfolio of fulfillment integrations, collaborating with vendors and internal stakeholders to enhance turnaround times.
- Partner with Product to define and execute the roadmap for our verification products, translating customer and regulatory requirements into actionable engineering priorities.
- Drive technical strategy for scaling our complex, integration-heavy systems, making architectural decisions that improve coverage and reduce manual exceptions.
- Champion the adoption of AI-assisted development practices within the team, ensuring that we maintain high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Represent the Verifications team in cross-functional planning, providing insights on capacity, trade-offs, and roadmap sequencing.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as an engineering manager, with a proven track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
- 8+ years of experience as a software engineer, with strong expertise in service architecture and distributed systems.
- Experience managing complex third-party integration environments, demonstrating the ability to own reliability across systems.
- A history of improving operational metrics, such as reducing incident frequency and enhancing shipping reliability in high-stakes environments.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and practices, with the ability to balance velocity and quality effectively.
- Strong incident management skills, capable of leading technical responses and stakeholder communications during crises.
- Excellent communication skills, able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
