Data Scientist - Remote Position at CERN

About the Role

We are seeking a Data Scientist to join our team at CERN, where you will play a crucial role in the operation of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This Data Scientist remote position focuses on developing Python-based software tools to automate large-scale data analysis, ensuring the safe functionality of superconducting magnets and their circuits.

What You'll Do

• Contribute to the development of automated data analysis tools using Python.
• Support the improvement and modernization of software used for superconducting circuit and magnet protection analysis.
• Assist in building and maintaining web-based tools for storing and visualizing analysis results.
• Participate in implementing automated testing and continuous integration workflows.
• Collaborate with team members through code reviews and shared development practices.
• Work closely with experts from diverse technical and cultural backgrounds.

Requirements

• Experience with Python development.
• Experience with GitLab, including version control and CI/CD workflows.
• Experience with data analysis and/or machine learning.
• Familiarity with JavaScript, HTML, and Node.js.
• Spoken and written English or French, with a commitment to learn the basics of the other language.

Nice to Have

• Experience in machine learning is considered a plus, but not mandatory.
