Associate Packaging Development Manager - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

Join Premier Foods as an Associate Packaging Development Manager in a remote capacity, where your passion for innovative packaging solutions will drive our category-leading brands forward. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our packaging development initiatives, supporting new product development (NPD) and enhancing brand presence while aligning with our sustainability goals.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development of innovative packaging formats that excite consumers and elevate brand presence.
• Manage the full packaging development process, including costings, sampling, trials, validation, and compliance.
• Proactively source and develop new pack formats and materials from concept through to implementation.
• Champion new packaging technologies and identify opportunities for product innovation.
• Build strong partnerships with packaging and machine suppliers to ensure technical collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with U.K. and international packaging legislation, keeping key teams informed of updates.
• Support packaging value improvement projects through material, format, or supplier optimization.
• Manage and mentor a small team of packaging technologists and apprentices.

Requirements

• Significant experience in a packaging technology role, ideally within Food, Beverage, or Pharma sectors.
• Proven track record of delivering packaging R&D projects from concept to launch.
• Strong technical capability across multiple packaging materials, processes, and print.
• Creativity and curiosity for packaging innovation, print embellishment, and brand elevation.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.
• Science-based degree in packaging, materials, design, or engineering.
• Institute of Packaging Diploma is preferred.
• People-management experience is a plus.

Nice to Have

• Knowledge of thermal processing/preservation in ambient foods.
• Experience working with suppliers and third-party manufacturers.
• Confidence in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
