Associate Overhead Transmission Line Structural Engineer - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking an Associate Overhead Transmission Line Structural Engineer to join our team at Black & Veatch. As an Associate Structural Engineer remote, you will play a key role in designing and analyzing transmission line work, ensuring that you are part of a team that is making a difference in the world.

What You'll Do

• Support global transmission projects by performing design engineering and analysis of transmission line work.
• Engage in large-scale 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, utilizing trending technologies such as HVDC and 765kV.
• Collect and assimilate data for engineering work, ensuring compliance with Black & Veatch and industry standards.
• Conduct research and prepare calculations to develop recommendations for equipment and materials.
• Maintain effective communication with the project team to ensure positive client relations and understand client interests.
• Assist in business development activities as needed, contributing to the growth of the company.
• Continuously learn and remain current on departmental design guides, standards, and applicable engineering codes.
• Prepare and verify engineering deliverables while adhering to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience in structural engineering.
• Experience with utility-scale projects and familiarity with software such as PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and MathCAD.
• Basic knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides.
• Strong analytical skills and proficiency in using spreadsheets and design software.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and communicate effectively with clients.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and adherence to quality standards.

Nice to Have

• Experience with structural steel and concrete design using 3D analysis software.
• Familiarity with HVDC technology and large-scale transmission projects.
• Previous involvement in business development or client engagement activities.
