About the Role

We are looking for an AI Operations Lead to join our team at Honeycomb. This remote AI Operations Lead position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of AI within our organization. You will play a crucial role in making Honeycomb an AI-superpowered company by building, deploying, and evangelizing AI technology across various departments.

What You'll Do

  • Own our internal AI strategy, creating a roadmap that balances quick wins with foundational investments.
  • Supervise the architecture of our internal AI platform, collaborating with Engineering Enablement and Data Engineering teams.
  • Support the development of reference architecture for internal AI capabilities, including model access and orchestration.
  • Partner with engineering and data teams to ensure AI platform components are built on shared infrastructure.
  • Identify AI workload dependencies early and integrate those requirements into partner roadmaps collaboratively.
  • Work with security, IT, and engineering to implement access control and data handling policies.
  • Establish shared data classification standards for AI use cases in collaboration with data and analytics teams.
  • Automate key business workflows using AI across the company, focusing on high-leverage internal processes.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives to define success metrics and deliver end-to-end AI solutions.
  • Evangelize AI tooling and concepts through training and enablement resources for various audiences.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a senior individual contributor in building and operating production-grade platforms.
  • Experience architecting modern AI stacks, including LLMs and evaluation guardrails.
  • Track record of leading cross-functional initiatives with clarity and decision-making.
  • Comfort navigating security, privacy, and compliance trade-offs in real organizations.
  • Ability to teach and influence, simplifying complex topics for diverse audiences.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building internal developer platforms or workflow automation systems.
  • Familiarity with observability practices for AI systems.
  • Experience with change management across distributed teams.
  • Interest in external evangelism through writing, speaking, or social media.
  • Knowledge of data governance and security practices.
