VP of Engineering - Remote Role at Blockworks

About the Role

We are seeking a VP of Engineering - Remote to join Blockworks, a leading information platform at the forefront of the crypto industry. In this role, you will leverage your extensive engineering leadership experience to drive the evolution of our engineering organization. As a remote-first company, you will have the flexibility to work from anywhere while leading a team that transforms complex data into actionable insights.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and scale a high-trust engineering organization by hiring, coaching, and retaining world-class engineers across our platform, data, and product teams.
• Own the technical roadmap and architecture, ensuring our systems are secure, reliable, and built to scale in collaboration with our CTO.
• Build quality systems that ship quickly and scale, translating complex problems into elegant engineering solutions.
• Shape the culture of engineering excellence by driving strong execution, healthy debate, and shared ownership among team members.
• Partner deeply with product and data leaders to define what we build and how we deliver it with speed and transparency.
• Be a force-multiplier across the business, collaborating with leaders in Product, Research, Sales, Finance, and Ops.
• Elevate technical rigor across Blockworks, identifying internal bottlenecks and instilling a culture of performance improvement.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of software engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in a multi-unit leadership role such as Director or VP.
• Proven track record of shipping complex products and building APIs and platforms, particularly in data-heavy SaaS environments.
• Experience leading remote teams and fostering a culture of velocity without micromanagement.
• Strong understanding of modern data architectures and infrastructure.
• Ability to navigate trade-offs and drive outcomes in partnership with product and business teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience in the crypto or financial infrastructure sectors.
• History of building teams from scratch and mentoring engineering managers.
• Comfort with the complexities and possibilities that blockchain data brings.
