Trainee - FinELib Consortium (Remote Opportunity)
About the Role
Are you ready to embark on a journey into the world of open science? We are seeking a motivated Trainee to join the FinELib Consortium at the National Library of Finland. This is an exciting opportunity for international master's students to engage in meaningful work while gaining valuable experience in scholarly communication. As a Trainee, you will contribute to advancing open access practices in Finnish universities.
What You'll Do
- Conduct an independent project on institutional rights retention policies (IRRP) at Finnish institutions.
- Produce an overview of the Finnish IRRP landscape by late 2026.
- Map experiences, best practices, and challenges related to IRRPs both domestically and internationally.
- Design and conduct interviews and surveys with librarians and researchers.
- Summarize findings into a concise report for FinELib and its member organizations.
- Share insights with the FinELib community and contribute to the broader discourse on open science.
Requirements
- Must be an international master's student at the University of Helsinki.
- Genuine interest in open science and scholarly communication.
- Demonstrated project management skills and ability to work independently.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- No prior experience with rights retention is required; curiosity and initiative are valued.
