About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Teen Development Leader to join our team remotely, supporting the Greater Holyoke YMCA's mission of youth development and community strengthening. In this role, you will oversee the administration of teen programs, ensuring a positive environment that fosters social and emotional growth.

What You'll Do

  • Support youth and teen programming year-round, both indoors and outdoors, creating a nurturing climate for social-emotional development.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Program Director to design engaging lesson plans that promote physical activity, academic growth, and team-building.
  • Oversee various enrichment and recreational activities, including sports and community service projects.
  • Establish positive relationships with teens, parents, and community partners to enhance program effectiveness and membership growth.
  • Conduct weekly check-ins with teens as a mentor, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure compliance with program standards and maintain proper staffing ratios for all activities.
  • Participate in community outreach and represent the YMCA at local events.
  • Support fundraising efforts and special events to enhance program visibility and impact.

Requirements

  • Experience in youth programming or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage diverse teams effectively.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification within three months of hire.
  • YMCA Leader Certification within six months of hire.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations with sound judgment.
  • Commitment to the YMCA's mission and values.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in urban communities and managing out-of-school time programs.
  • Familiarity with community service and volunteerism initiatives.
  • Strong technical skills and adaptability to new programs.
