Staff Machine Learning Engineer - Remote in Switzerland

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join our innovative team at Inworld AI. This remote position is based in Switzerland and offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI technologies. As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing real-time multimodal models and optimizing our orchestration platform for high performance.

What You'll Do

• Design and implement inference optimization strategies using modern serving frameworks like vLLM or TRT-LLM.
• Accelerate models through techniques such as quantization, distillation, and caching strategies.
• Enhance high-performance systems using C++, CUDA, Rust, or optimized Python.
• Manage distributed systems and scaling with Kubernetes, Ray, and custom load balancing.
• Take full ownership of models from research to production, ensuring reliability and performance.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Math, or equivalent practical experience in ML systems.
• Professional fluency in English, with strong communication skills for collaboration with US-based teams.
• Experience in high-performance systems and distributed computing.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, CUDA, or Python.
• Demonstrated ability to work on non-trivial systems programming projects or open-source contributions.

Nice to Have

• Experience with multi-GPU/multi-node inference.
• Background in building backend or ML systems.
• Familiarity with performance profiling and optimization techniques.
