Staff Applied AI Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Staff Applied AI Engineer to join our team at Checkr, where you will play a pivotal role in driving AI enablement across the organization. This remote Staff Applied AI Engineer position allows you to leverage your technical expertise and passion for AI to empower teams and enhance productivity.

What You’ll Do

• Gather requirements from various teams to identify high-impact AI use cases and translate them into actionable technical solutions.
• Lead office hours and hackathons to inspire experimentation and knowledge sharing among teams.
• Evaluate and configure AI tools and platforms, making informed build-vs-buy recommendations.
• Design and deploy bespoke AI solutions tailored to specific team needs, utilizing LLMs, RAG architectures, and automation frameworks.
• Create reusable resources, including playbooks and prompt libraries, to facilitate AI adoption across the organization.
• Architect and implement standardized AI workflows that can be adapted for multiple teams.
• Conduct hands-on training sessions and workshops to build AI fluency organization-wide.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI technologies into existing systems, ensuring security and compliance.
• Contribute to the AI strategy and roadmap, aligning initiatives with business priorities.
• Communicate findings and advocate for AI adoption with stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or equivalent experience; a graduate degree is a plus.
• 5-7+ years of experience in engineering or solutions engineering roles, with a focus on AI-centric products.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience with machine learning, generative AI, and related technologies.
• Deep proficiency in Python and familiarity with AI frameworks such as LangChain and OpenAI API.
• Exceptional problem-solving skills in unstructured environments.
• Strong communication skills to convey complex AI concepts to diverse audiences.
• A builder’s mindset, comfortable with both technical and educational tasks.
• A genuine passion for AI and helping others harness its potential.

Nice to Have

• Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Proven track record of leading enablement programs.
• Familiarity with AI compliance and security standards.
