Software Engineer - Billing Systems (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join our team remotely. As a Software Engineer - Billing Systems, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our billing and invoicing systems. This position allows you to work from various locations including the UK, Ireland, Estonia, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Israel, and we also welcome contractors from Eastern Europe and Portugal.

What You'll Do

• Lead the implementation of new features for our billing systems, from proposal through specification and implementation to maintenance.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, particularly in finance and operations, to identify inefficiencies in billing processes and propose technical solutions.
• Review code and mentor junior engineers on best practices for code quality and maintainability.
• Dedicate time to improving the health of the codebase, focusing on reducing technical debt.
• Provide feedback and technical guidance during team planning sessions, ensuring challenges are identified early.

Requirements

• 4+ years of software development experience, preferably as a Full Stack or Backend engineer.
• Hands-on experience with Go for at least 2 years, along with knowledge of Python, React, and Node.js.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience developing solutions in the Cloud.
• Strong understanding of software engineering practices, design patterns, and architectural principles.
• Excellent communication skills in English, capable of articulating complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud billing for AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Familiarity with Google BigQuery.
