Software Development Engineer - Remote Position

About the Role

We are seeking a talented Software Development Engineer to join our team at Arizona State University. This Software Development Engineer remote position focuses on developing, maintaining, and supporting ASU’s Enterprise Research Administration (ERA) system and related applications. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the technological infrastructure of our institution.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and troubleshoot moderately complex software applications in support of the ERA system.
• Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including design, development, testing, QA, deployment, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to ensure timely delivery of features and fixes.
• Contribute to system architecture, troubleshooting, and optimization of code and databases.
• Assist with operational tasks such as patching, certificate renewal, and monthly validation.
• Support backlog management, ticket resolution, and system documentation.
• Provide responsive support for troubleshooting issues and ad hoc requests as needed.
• Commit to learning and adapting to the unique, customized ERA environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience in software development or a related field.
• Proficiency with C#, JavaScript, React, Azure, SQL, Git, and Azure DevOps.
• Experience with large-scale web application development and familiarity with SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio).
• Understanding of cloud environments, preferably Azure.
• Experience with source control, DevOps practices, and agile methodologies.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in Scrum/agile practices.
• Ability to analyze complex technical issues and troubleshoot effectively.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Vite or Next.js.
• Familiarity with collaboration platforms such as Slack and Teams.
• Knowledge of research administration systems and workflows.
