Senior System Administrator - Migration and Modernization

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior System Administrator to join our team in a remote capacity, focusing on migration and modernization of legacy systems. This role is crucial for ensuring operational continuity and security as we upgrade our infrastructure.

What You'll Do

• Assess and plan for the migration of legacy Windows Server (2012 and older) and RHEL 5/6/7 systems.
• Develop comprehensive migration strategies, including risk assessments and upgrade paths.
• Migrate legacy systems to RHEL 8/9 and Windows Server 2022/2025 primarily through reinstallation.
• Implement data backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss during migration.
• Utilize Ansible and PowerShell for consistent configuration management across systems.
• Perform system hardening and apply security patches to ensure compliance with internal security standards.
• Provide troubleshooting and support for post-migration issues, ensuring high availability.
• Document migration processes and provide regular updates to stakeholders.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in RHEL and Windows OS administration, upgrade, and migration.
• Strong knowledge of system assessment, planning, and migration strategies.
• Experience with Ansible and PowerShell for configuration management.
• Familiarity with security standards such as CIS Benchmarks and NIST.
• Ability to troubleshoot OS-level and application issues effectively.
• Excellent communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms and virtualization technologies.
• Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., RHCE, MCSE).
• Knowledge of disaster recovery planning and implementation.
