Senior Streaming Systems Engineer - Remote Opportunity

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Streaming Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team at Airtame. This Senior Streaming Systems Engineer remote position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of wireless display technology. You will be instrumental in building our native wireless display protocol stack, replacing third-party dependencies with our own implementations of AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast on embedded Linux.

What You'll Do

• Lead the development of the native protocol stack, ensuring production-quality implementations of AirPlay, Google Cast, and Miracast.
• Expand codec support and enhance performance, focusing on latency and synchronization under real-world network conditions.
• Document protocol behavior and architecture decisions to facilitate team maintenance and future enhancements.
• Contribute to adjacent systems, including our Chromium-based embedded browser and native firmware.
• Collaborate with a distributed team across Europe, fostering a culture of high trust and open communication.

Requirements

• Proven experience in reverse engineering or building receivers for wireless display protocols.
• Strong understanding of the full media pipeline, including network transport, codec negotiation, decoding, and rendering.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded Linux environments; familiarity with Rust is a plus.
• Experience debugging streaming performance issues in real-world network scenarios.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.

Nice to Have

• Experience with GPU-accelerated decoding.
• Background in developing desktop applications.
• Familiarity with various streaming protocols and their implementations.
