Senior Software Engineering Manager - Remote

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineering Manager to join our dynamic team at National General. In this remote role, you will lead critical engineering groups responsible for architecting and designing innovative digital products. Your leadership will ensure alignment across the organization while driving the success of our digital offerings through effective management and strategic planning.

What You'll Do

• Partner with product teams to enhance service reliability and user experience.
• Oversee incident response and ensure adequate on-call management.
• Conduct thorough post-mortems and implement preventive measures to avoid future issues.
• Drive automation initiatives to reduce toil and enhance delivery quality.
• Mentor engineers on technology and effective Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
• Create strategic plans to grow the Site Reliability practice within the organization.
• Provide coaching and mentorship for a global team of engineers.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering management.
• Proven track record of improving availability while reducing Mean Time to Recovery (MTTR).
• Experience with enterprise platforms such as Apigee, Kafka, and/or TIBCO.
• Familiarity with observability tools like DataDog for creating dashboards and troubleshooting.
• Strong technical background in distributed computing and hybrid cloud infrastructure support.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with all levels of the organization.
• Detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple complex issues simultaneously.

Nice to Have

• Experience in API Gateway management.
• Strong problem-solving skills in IT and software management.
• Proficiency in middleware administration and people management.
