Senior Software Engineer - Mission Systems (Fury AAV)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Mission Systems to join our innovative team at Anduril Industries. In this remote position, you will play a crucial role in developing advanced software for the Fury AAV, a high-performance autonomous air vehicle. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines to design, develop, deploy, and test software that enhances military capabilities.

What You'll Do

• Design and write software services for controlling payloads, sensors, and radios deployed to real hardware.
• Integrate third-party hardware into the ecosystem of a large air vehicle.
• Test software-hardware integrations in both virtualized and real-world environments.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to plan, build, and test complex functionalities.
• Drive software requirements and specifications with a focus on cyber and safety considerations.
• Own and maintain parts of the software roadmap, tracking milestones against broader program deliverables.

Requirements

• Strong engineering background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
• 5+ years of experience working on Linux systems with programming languages such as C++, C, Rust, Python, Go, or Zig.
• Experience deploying containerized software using orchestration tools like Docker or Kubernetes.
• A desire to work on critical software that has a real-world impact.
• Currently possesses and can maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice to Have

• Experience working in air-gapped environments on RHEL systems.
• Knowledge of defense technology and tactics, especially in the air domain.
• Familiarity with distributed communication networks and message standards.
• Knowledge of Nix and NixOS.
