Senior Software Engineer - Layer-7 Security (Remote)

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Layer-7 Security to join our team at Palo Alto Networks. This remote position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions that protect our digital way of life. As a key member of our Layer-7 Security Software team, you will innovate and develop critical features that enhance our Next-Generation Firewall systems.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop GlobalProtect, a leading secure network connection application.
• Innovate and improve the functionality and performance of the Next-Generation Firewall.
• Collaborate with product management to gather user requirements and translate them into functional designs.
• Utilize your programming skills in C and Go to implement robust software solutions.
• Work closely with quality assurance and field support teams throughout the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• B.S. degree in Computer Science or a related field; a graduate degree is preferred.
• Proficient in C programming within a Linux development environment.
• Experience with Go programming and backend development using HTTP and web servers.
• Strong knowledge of networking, including TCP/UDP and socket programming.
• Familiarity with Redis, SQL, or NoSQL databases.
• Experience in multi-threaded programming and high-performance software design.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.

Nice to Have

• Experience with machine learning applications in cybersecurity.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies and deployment.
• Previous experience in a fast-paced startup environment.
